Background: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. One of the cardiovascular diseases is hypertension. Hypertension is a silent killer and rarely causes symptoms. Therefore, to reduce risk factors in cardiovascular disease, one of which is hypertension, it is necessary to have complementary therapy, one of which is cupping therapy. The purpose to determine the effect of cupping therapy on the risk of cardiovascular disease: the effect on blood pressure at the PTM Retno Waras post, Baturetno Village, Yogyakarta
Method: This type of research is quantitative with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pre-post design. The population in this study is 45 hypertensive patients. Sampling in this study used simple random sampling of 15 respondents. This research instrument uses a digital sphygmomanometer. The test used is the T Dependent test.
Results: The average Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) before being given the cupping therapy intervention was 104.80 mmHg, and after being given the cupping therapy intervention was 103.06 mmHg, the difference between the mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) before and after was 1.74 mmHg, The results of the T Dependent test were found to have a value of p 0.000 (p value < 0.05)
Conclusion: There is an effect of cupping therapy on blood pressure at the PTM Retno Waras Posbindu, Baturetno Village
